Vintage Kit this is us! *

Vintage Kit was established in 2007 and sold through Harrods, Harvey Nichols London and Hong Kong, Selfridges, Fred Siegal in LA and Kitson Kids. It was hailed as aHalo brand for Disney with its partnership brand Disney by Vintage Kit. And now with a wealth of energy, and years of experience in the arts and creative fields. We want to indulge in making beautiful prints giving a nod to our heritage with a contemporary feel. Creating papers, textiles childrens clothes and homewares that are unique, original, edgy and fun.

Where it began...

Vintage Kit is a lifestyle brand featuring children’s clothes, bedding, wallpaper and lampshades all created using hand-drawn prints of original characters – and through our co-brand collection with Disney some of the best loved cartoon characters ever created.

Vintage Kit launched over ten years ago with a boutique vintage inspired collection designed to dress children beautifully, but in a way they could still play freely. Our clothes are made from fabrics that are soft, cuddly and comfortable but also highly creative and individual for the little adventurers in our lives.

Vintage Kit’s roots are drawn from an eclectic mix of British style influences, so we work closely with a small group of talented seamstresses to produce the ranges and aim to ensure that all printing and manufacturing is done in the UK - very important for such a quintessentially British brand.

Sustainability at VK

Vintage Kit likes to put sustainability at the core of everything we do. At Vintage Kit we think about all the costs in creating fashion – not just the price tag. This way we can keep creating better solutions when it comes to making clothes.

Sustainability follows the lifecycle of clothes; everything from growing textile fibres and making fabric, dyeing, moving materials, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, garment care, and even recycling clothes when you’re done with them.

Factory Life
Our factories use the most efficient, eco-friendly and pro-social technologies and practices available. We like to keep them small and friendly and close to home.

E-Commerce
On average, e-commerce uses about 30% less energy than traditional retail. Good news because the majority of our customers use our online site to make purchases.

Retail
By only selling clothes online and in our wholesale stores, we try to avoid traditional retail markups.

Sustainable Purchasing
Vintage Kit is committed to achieving fair, safe and healthy working conditions throughout our supply chain, and minimise environmental impact. We seek to partner with suppliers who share a common vision of sustainability, accountability and transparency. We currently require that suppliers meet our standards for: social responsibility, safe & non-toxic better materials.

To keep our supply chain as sustainable as possible, we make sure our suppliers take social and environmental standards seriously. By sourcing locally when possible, and screening all of our suppliers, we minimise environmental impacts and ensure there’s no unfair or unsafe labor that goes into making our clothes.

Purchasing
Right now, the majority of our fabric comes from and is printed in the UK. The remaining fabrics such as Denim is purchased from overseas suppliers. This happens when we’re unable to find anybody to make these fabrics domestically because fabric-weaving equipment for delicate woven’s left the U.K. a few decades ago. Our goal is to one day bring this know-how back—both internally and domestically.

Recycling
We recycle as much as we can, even packaging as every little thing adds up.

Supplier Standards
We seek to work with those using eco-friendly manufacturing processes and practice fair and safe labor. It’s very much a friendship—our standards are just extra high.

Supplies
A business uses a ton of stuff. To manage our impact, we adopted Environmentally Preferred Purchasing policies across all our operations for things like office and cleaning supplies, shipping materials, and manufacturing equipment. We prioritise products with recycled-content, and opt for solutions that are recyclable or biodegradable.

Our packaging is plastic-free and made from 100% recycled paper products, Plus our tape and hangers use non-toxic adhesives. Our garment bags are made from 30% recycled plastic and always get reused. It’s the best we could find, but we want it to be better.

Collaborations
We also like to collaborate with like minded companies, please contact us.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL BIT! ITS IMPORTANT TO US

We print using a water based latex ink system – no solvents or gas-powered ovens are used in the process and all our electricity is ‘green’, from renewable sources. All of our papers and non wovens are FSC certified, from sustainable, traceable sources.

Wallpaper are designed, produced at high quality, and hung with the intention of having a long life and many years of enjoyment – these are not single use, disposable products.

We manufacture responsibly and source all our materials ethically, always with the environment and our planet in mind.
